Six String Nation

“…..
To celebrate the people and stories of a country from the roots to the
trunk rather than the other way around: and to encourage us to tell
that story to ourselves and the world through music – the language that
Canada speaks just about better than anyone else in the world."
Excerpt from the Goals of the Six String Nation Project
Through
a multimedia presentation, award winning journalist and radio producer,
Jowi Taylor invites students and teachers to lend their voices and
become citizens of the Six String Nation as he presents the making of the Voyaguer
– the guitar made of over 60 pieces of Canadian history and heritage
from across Canada - a metaphor for the many voices that have come
together and form a Canadian identity, a legacy to our history as a
nation. In addition to the presentation, students are invited to join
the thousands of people from all walks of life to be photographed
holding/playing the guitar.
30-minute address is
available on its own, in conjunction with collaborative songwriting,
story or interdisciplinary workshop projects, and or includes an
opportunity for students/teachers to be photographed with the Voyageur
individually or in groups.
